Snow, friends, evergreens, and ledges.
The best way to show visitors my love for the Pacific Northwest is to take them to the mountains. Luckily, there is no shortage when it comes to hikes so we went to the foothills of the Cascades and hiked Rattlesnake Ledge. A short drive east from Seattle and 2 miles of hiking will bring you views of Mount Si, Mount Washington, Rattlesnake Lake and Chester Morse Lake. For my friends and I however, we were greeted by snow and clouds but we had fun nonetheless!
My friends were in from Ohio and as we hiked among the evergreens with snowflakes dancing down from the sky, I couldn't help but smile that they were enjoying their time in Washington. Seeing the color contrast between the thick moss covered trees and white snow was hypnotizing, none of us could stop from looking up. As we neared the top the snowflakes became larger and the wind began to pick up a bit faster. We couldn't see the panorama of surrounding mountains at the top but we enjoyed our time anyway! We started to make our way down and the sky suddenly opened around us with the sun warming our faces and sparkles of snow shimmering in the sky.
As we hiked back down to the car we enjoyed each other's company before they headed to the airport that evening to make their journey back to Ohio.
