Olympic National Park
A quick ferry ride from Seattle takes you to the epic Olympic Peninsula where Olympic National Park can be found. It has incredible range in precipitation, elevation, and diversity encompassing glacier-capped mountains, old-growth temperate rain forests, and over 70 miles of wild coastline.
I've been to Olympic many times and Lake Crescent is a must stop but I've always wanted to hike up the surrounding peaks for an overlook of the lake. My friends and I focused on Mount Storm King and braved the weather, we were treated to 30mph winds and snow at the top! Looking north from the summit we could see the Strait of Juan de Fuca and Canada in the distance with foggy peaks in the foreground; simply struck in awe. With a down climb out of the wind, we found shelter among the trees and solace in a flask. Friends, mountains, good vibes... I'll take that over pretty much anything.
Washington never ceases to amaze me and I absolutely love living in the Pacific Northwest.
